Maths

We aim to make maths an enjoyable and creative subject in which each child develops a positive interest and can achieve their best. The foundation for this is built upon good mental maths skills which include a thorough knowledge of number bonds and tables. Children are expected to learn their tables and are encouraged to practise them at home.

Maths teaching ensures that children continue to develop their mathematical thinking through an application of their knowledge and skills. This includes: reasoning, fluency, and problem solving . We utilise a variety of teaching approaches and resources which allow children to learn effectively through visual images, practical activities, computer activities, games, problem solving activities and enterprise projects which provide chidlren with the opportunities they need to rehearse procedures and knoweldge whilst think deeply and talk about their reasoning.
