Woodpecker’s topic ‘Here we are!’ - The world and the UK was launched this year with  ‘Earth Day’ on the first day back after lockdown. The children had the opportunity to take part in activities linked to the Earth.  The have spent the first few weeks of the topic focussing on the book ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers and learnt about their place in the world.  Each week, they then explored each of the countries that form part of the UK and got their learning passport stamped along the way. Other key texts tin this topic were: The Tale of Black Shuck – google, and The Queen’s Handbag by Stever Antony.
