Starting with a VERY lively debate about whether the world is flat, the Kingfishers topic this term is all about Earth and Space. In science, they  learn about the planets, the movement of our moon and all about day and night. The children will also have the opportunity to complete some of their own space art based around the artist ‘Peter Thorpe’ along with creating their own constellations. Their key text will be ‘Cosmic’ and from this they write their own science fiction stories.   They read the picture book ‘Curiosity: The story of the mars rover’ and carry out a description on a video about the planets.  From a range of other linked texts and videos about our solar system the children also have the opportunity to write a non-chronological report on the subject.
