This half term the children are going to be learning all about the ancient Maya civilisation. From the geography of when and where they lived to how they lived their daily lives. The first week of this topic is going to hook the children in by creating their own worry dolls during Forest School. Worry dolls originated during the Maya time in the area now known as Guatemala.

During this topic, the Falcons  learn all about the ancient Maya civilisation. They discover everything Maya, from the geography of where they lived, to the history of when they lived and how they lived their daily lives.

The topic is launched with a forest school session, involving the creation of clay worry dolls which originated during the Maya time in an area known as Guatemala. 

Key texts include ‘The Curse of the Maya’, ‘Stories for Boys who Dare to be Different’, and ‘Good Night stories for Rebel Girls’.
