Kingfishers Curriculum

Kingfishers work on China will coincide with Chinese New Year and provide plenty of opportunities for children to make comparisons between China and the UK, including similarities and differences in culture.

The topic launched with a landmark treasure hunt as children found pictures of famous landmarks and tried to match them up with their name and corresponding information. The children will be making Chinese dragons and lanterns in preparation for a Chinese New Year festival which they will be performance for the rest of the school.  They will also be making salt dough Chinese dragons, making their own willow pattern plates, and experiencing a range of traditional Chinese food. Their key texts will be: ‘Chinese Fables’ and ‘The Willow Pattern Story’.
